Abstract: In this paper the classification of content management systems web-resources is carried out, their main advantages and disadvantages are identified. The possibilities of this class of systems for automating the development of distance education site are investigated. As a result of the work it was revealed that the learning content management systems are the most promising in terms of distance learning because they allow to build content quickly and to trace learning outcomes.
