The binarization algorithm of the rock photos with heterogeneous background

Abstract: This article is devoted to description of the modified algorithm of the rock color photos binarizing. The purpose of this processing is the detection of the objects of interest that represent the different size mineral fractions on the heterogeneous background. It gives the opportunity to automate the process of the granulometric composition analysis in the future. The experimental researches of the proposed algorithm show the validity enhancement of the binarization and the edge detection of the mineral fractions comparing to the original method.
