Abstract: A project of intelligent transport system is discussed in the article. The system is based on mass transportation of passengers by means of mobile autonomous robots. The robots are assembled in caravans on cluster basis. This new type of public transport system is aimed to increase mobility and flexibility of public conveyance. It also ensures significant economic benefits - since efficiency is almost equal to metro transportation but at the same time the cost of manufacturing and maintenance is much lower. The project is at the stage of conceptual design. Ongoing research is related to computer simulation of the system in different conditions and intensity of passenger traffic.

Keywords: traffic, adaptive control, passenger traffic, rate of vehicle utilization, intelligent transportation system
