Abstract: The basic procedures of nonlinear regression are presented. Bayesian inference is introduced. In Bayesian inference all information about the reservoir parameters is expressed in terms of probability, and uncertainty involved in the parameter estimates can be expressed quantitatively. Confidence intervals are derived in the framework of Bayesian inference, and the problems inherently involved in the application of confidence intervals for model discrimination are discussed.
